Our trains are antiques, therefore there is no heat or air conditioning inside the passenger cars. Be sure to check the weather and please dress accordingly. Feel free to bring a blanket during the cooler weather.
We have spacious free parking which includes RV spaces.
We sure do! You may find all kinds of great railroad and train related memorabilia and it is right next to our visitor center. The Park store also carries light snacks and soft drinks. It is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
No, however, there are many close by options in downtown Scranton, PA
While the Trolley Museum is located on the opposite end of our parking lot, they are operated by Lackawanna County and they are a total separate entity.
Steamtown National Historic Site (NHS) will no longer sell the America the Beautiful (ATB) Interagency Passes. Passes are not required to visit Steamtown NHS as the park is a fee free park. However, passes can be purchased either online at the USGS Store website or at any National Park Service site that does charge an entrance fee.
The Annual Pass and Annual and Lifetime Senior Passes are easily purchased online at the USGS Store website.
We have plenty of picnic areas outside including shaded sections, however, we have no indoor eating areas.
Unfortunately, while the Marketplace shares part of our name, the mall is not associated with Steamtown NHS. The Marketplace has its own parking garage and rules. Steamtown NHS provides free parking for visitors while they enjoy our museum and park-provided events/activities.
Anyone is allowed to take photos and videos at Steamtown NHS as long as it is using a regular camera and no props are involved. Please note: You will only be allowed in the same areas the general public is allowed.
We will not be hosting Railfest for 2020 but stay tuned for dates and announcements for 2021.
