Scotts Bluff National Monument is soliciting comments on a draft Cultural Landscape Report (CLR) and Environmental Assessment (EA) to establish a treatment philosophy and framework to enhance resource conditions and visitor experiences.
An open house format meeting is scheduled for January 12, 2017, at Gering Civic Center, Platte River Room, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. This meeting will allow the general public to view the alternatives and ask park staff any questions on this project.
“We hope people will come out and learn about our efforts to protect the cultural and natural landscape while taking a look at the proposed addition to the Visitor Center.” said Park Superintendent Dan Morford. “People can participate in the process by reading and commenting on the four alternatives being considered.”
The comment period will run through Wednesday, January 25, 2017, 5:00 pm mst. Comments can be completed on-line at https://parkplanning.nps.gov/scbl, dropped off at the visitor center, or mailed to Superintendent of Scotts Bluff National Monument; PO Box 27; Gering, NE 69341.
