The annual art show that kicks off National Park Week each year ended on Sunday, May 13 with more than usual interest from the public. Fifteen pieces of artwork by ten artists of the North Platte Valley Art Guild were on display in the William Henry Jackson room for three weeks. The art media included: oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, photography, ink and mixed media.

A feature of the art show is a People's Choice vote for their favorite work of art. The artist winning the vote receives an annual pass for Scotts Bluff National Monument and Fort Laramie National Historic Site. This year there were 261 votes, compared to a tenth that number last year. The winning art work was "Populus Splendiferous" by Richard Schaneman. The digital photograph features a large cottonwood tree surrounded by a golden glow. With 44 votes, Mr. Shaneman's piece topped the runner up by five votes.

Thank you to all the people who visited the art show and voted.
