Visit the Summit (Stop 2), topped by the ca. 1775 Neilson House, and see men, women, and children living the lives of Continental Army and Militia personnel who inhabited the very same ground in September and October 1777 during the Battles of Saratoga!

9:00am. Camp opens. Ongoing activities occur in camp throughout the day. Feel free to speak with the soldiers and followers about what they portray and the activities they are doing.

10:00am. “We kept up a brisk Fire”musket firing demonstration.

10:30am. “the Greatest battle that Ever was fought in Amarrca—take part in a guided tour of the 1st Battle of Saratoga with Park Ranger Eric Schnitzer. Meet at Freeman’s Farm (Stop 6) parking lot.

11:00am. “remarkable women of the Revolution”a Continental Army follower talks about the experiences women had while living with the army! Meet under the big tree in front of Neilson House.

11:30am. “the Roast Beef”hear about the daily life of a soldier as told by drums! Meet under the big tree in front of Neilson House.

12noon. “We kept up a brisk Fire”—musket firing demonstration.

12:30pm. “has permission to sell liquor to my Brigade, provided it is good”—a sutler teaches how to make money off the army! Meet under the big tree in front of Neilson House.

1:00pm. “turned it out in Six piles on the Board”—see what American soldiers and followers really ate here in 1777! Meet under the big tree in front of Neilson House.

1:30pm. “We kept up a brisk Fire”—musket firing demonstration.

2:00pm. “into the Field with Spears”—see examples of and hear stories about deadly bladed weapons used by Americans in the Battles of Saratoga! Meet under the big tree in front of Neilson House.

2:30pm. “uneasiness…at seeing the wounded suffer”—learn about the medicines and instruments used by Continental Army surgeons during the war! Meet under the big tree in front of Neilson House.

3:00pm. “We kept up a brisk Fire”—musket firing demonstration.

3:30pm. “lurking about our Encampments as Spies”—taken from a real 1777 court martial, you decide whether to condemn or free two prisoners! Meet under the big tree in front of Neilson House.

4:00pm. “We kept up a brisk Fire”—musket firing demonstration; Camp closes
