P-15: An Unfortunate Death
Male | Born 2004 | August 2011
This male mountain lion was the first (and hopefully the last) case of poaching researchers have documented in the Santa Monica Mountains . His body -- decapitated and all four paws severed off -- was found by hikers in the western Santa Monica Mountains in the summer of 2011. A yearlong investigation did not turn up anything. First captured in the winter of 2010, his parents are P-1 and an unknown female lion, who also beget P-11, P-14, P-20, and Griffith Park’s famed P-22.
