The Bear Boats Are Here!
Classic San Francisco Bay Racing Yachts On Display Saturday, August 24, 2013.
Since the the 1930s, a hardy fleet of racing sailboats have been slicing through the treacherous waters of San Francisco Bay. Small enough to be affordable, but swift and seaworthy enough to withstand rigorous competition in stiff winds, the Bear class sloops and their skippers have become legend in the Bay yachting lore. On Saturday August 24, the superstars of the Bear fleet visit Aquatic Park and Hyde Street Pier for a lively (and lovely) boat parade, and an afternoon open house dockside! A rare chance to see a truly classic local racing fleet up close and personal!
Noon to 1:30 pm:
See the Bears Dance and Prance, Jibe and Tack, live in Aquatic Park! A rare classic racing fleet parade, complete with nautical drills and dazzling derring-dos for your viewing pleasure.
Bears at the Hyde Street Pier docks. Visit the fleet and meet the skippers.
