A black and white line drawing of a seagull by Inga Wessels.

Birds of the Bay

Rain or shine, we'll take in stunning views of San Francisco Bay, Golden Gate Bridge, and Alcatraz as we look for resident and migratory birds in areas such as the public shoreline adjacent to Hyde Street Pier, Victorian Park, and the lower hillside of Fort Mason off Van Ness, and the abandoned pier adjacent to Municipal Pier.

Meet at the entrance to the Hyde Street Pier at Hyde and Jefferson on the western border of Fisherman’s Wharf. Dress in layers, wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunscreen, and bring binoculars and guide books if you have them (we can provide binoculars and books if you don't have any).

Unmetered street parking is located at the foot of Van Ness Avenue (free for four hours). There is limited metered street parking in the neighborhood and hourly fee-based parking garages nearby.
