Below, you can learn about the current route plan for the 2021 ASC. At each of the places listed below, you will be able to take a close look at the cars, talk with the design and build teams, and learn about solar technology and the history of the Santa Fe Trail all in one place!

Independence, Missouri: August 2 - 3
From 12 pm - 7 pm on August 2, join us on the historic Independence Square for Display Day. At 9 am on August 3, come out to cheer on the teams on as they start off on the 2021 American Solar Challenge and down the Old Trail to Santa Fe. The cars will be available for viewing starting at ~ 8 am.
Council Grove, Kansas: August 3
On August 3 from ~ 12 pm - 2:45 pm, join us at the first stop (checkpoint) of the ASC in Council Grove, KS, at the Council Grove Junior Senior High School right off Main Street.
McPherson, Kansas: August 3 - 4
Join us in McPherson, KS, at Midway Motors, on August 3 from ~ 2:15 pm - 8 pm for a stage point. They will continue down the Trail on the morning of August 4 at 10 am, passing Fort Larned National Historic Site. The cars will be available for viewing beginning at ~ 8 am.
Dodge City, Kansas: August 4
On August 4 from ~ 12:45 pm to 4:30 pm, visit the ASC outside of the Dodge City Convention and Visitors Bureau and Boot Hill Museum.
La Junta, Colorado: August 4 - 5
The ASC will visit Bent’s Old Fort National Historic Site in La Junta, CO, for a checkpoint on August 4 from ~ 3:45 pm to 5:30 pm, and August 5 from ~ 8 am to 3:15 pm. This far along in the challenge, the cars will be staggered. Most cars are expected to reach the fort on August 5, but a few may trickle in on the evening of August 4. Please note that on August 4th, National Trails rangers will NOT be present due to scheduling issues. NPS rangers with Bent's Old Fort will be on site.
Las Vegas, New Mexico: August 6 - 7
The ASC will arrive in Las Vegas, NM, on August 6 after looping out to Fort Union National Monument for a stage point at West Las Vegas Highschool from ~ 10 am to 8 pm. At 9 am on August 7, the solar cars will depart for a final loop from West Las Vegas Highschool out to Santa Fe and back, passing Pecos National Historic Park! The cars will be available for viewing beginning at ~ 8 am. At around 12 pm, the solar cars will start returning to Las Vegas for the Finish Line. They will remain on display until at least 5 pm.
