Below, you can learn about the current route plan for the 2021 ASC. At each of the places listed below, you will be able to take a close look at the cars, talk with the design and build teams, and learn about solar technology and the history of the Santa Fe Trail all in one place! Please keep in mind that the event is contingent on the COVID-19 virus situation and may be adjusted as needed depending on the circumstances, restrictions, and other factors beyond our control.
Independence, MO: August 3rd& 4th
On August 3rd, join us on the historic Independence Square for Display Day. On the morning of August 4th, come out to cheer on the teams on as they start off on the 2021 American Solar Challenge and down the Old Trail to Santa Fe.
Council Grove, KS: August 4th
The first stop of the ASC is a checkpoint in Council Grove, KS, at the Council Grove Junior Senior High School right off Main Street.
Dodge City, KS: August 5th
Come visit the ASC on August 5th at the second checkpoint right outside of the Dodge City Convention and Visitors Bureau and Boot Hill Museum.
La Junta, CO: August 5th
The third checkpoint of the ASC will be at Bent’s Old Fort National Historic Site in La Junta, CO. This far along in the challenge, the cars will be staggered, with most of the cars expected to come through on the 5th and a few potentially the morning of the 6th.
Las Vegas, NM: August 6th & 7th
The ASC will arrive Las Vegas, NM, on August 6th for an overnight stage point. Cars that arrive early will be able to do an option loop out to Fort Union National Monument. The next morning, the solar cars will depart for a final loop out to Santa Fe and back, passing Pecos National Historic Park, returning to Las Vegas for the finish line!
