Step Back in Time!
Step back in time on Saturday, October 8 for the Heritage Day festival at historic Peirce Mill in Rock Creek Park.

Visitors to the restored and operating 19th century grist mill can watch the construction of a dry stone wall and see how logs were hewn by hand. A special attraction this year will be a presentation on Latino bread-making culture, with on-site preparation of tortillas. Spanish language tours of the mill will also be held throughout the day.

At center stage is the last remaining mill in Washington, DC. Visitors can witness the intricate workings of this four-story machine as it grinds corn into meal, powered by a giant water wheel.

Milling demonstrations will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Enjoy hands-on art and crafts activities for children, live bluegrass by renowned local musician Orrin Star and more. Food will be available for purchase.
