Volunteers are needed to prepare Chalmette National Cemetery for Memorial Day. To honor those interred at the national cemetery, flags will be placed at each of the 14,000+ headstones. Flags will be put out on Friday, May 25, beginning at 7:30 a.m. and will be removed on Tuesday, May 29, beginning at 7:30 a.m. FLAG REMOVAL PROJECT HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO EXPECTED HEAVY RAINS AND FLOODING FROM GULF OF MEXICO STORM ALBERTO. INFORMATION WILL BE POSTED HERE WHEN PROJECT IS RESCHEDULED.
