Are you interested in learning as much as you can about the Civil War battlefields in the area? Want to know what it takes to be a National Park Service ranger? Find out by attending Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park’s Junior Ranger Day activities on Saturday, April 21st!

Kids should pick up their Junior Ranger Activity Booklet at the Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Park rangers will be on-hand to help children fulfill the necessary requirements, administer the Junior Ranger pledge, and distribute Junior Ranger patches. Kids and parents will also have the opportunity to learn a bit more about the National Park Service and try a ranger uniform on for size.

Already completed the park’s Junior Ranger Program? Try out “NPS 101,” a hands-on activity that will introduce kids to some of the different types of work NPS rangers do. Learn about archeology, observe the natural world, fill out a police report, and more! Participants will receive a special certificate in addition to their Junior Ranger patch.

Junior Ranger Day is part of National Park Week, which runs from April 21st to the 29th.  For more information, check www.nationalparkweek.org.
