Celebrate National Park Week with your children on Liberty Island! The park rangers will introduce children to the meaning of some of the symbols of the Statue of Liberty through a group dialogue which will be educational and entertaining. The children will learn about the symbolic meaning behind the torch, crown, tablet, broken chain, and raised right foot. Then, the park rangers will lead the children on a dash throughout the surrounding lawn area collecting symbols as they go. After gathering a number of symbols and regrouping, the children will identify a symbol of the Statue of Liberty important to them and explain what it means to them. Parents are required to be present for the program and encouraged to join their children in the activity as the program is designed for young children ages 3-10, and runs 30 minutes.
