Do you like to dig in the dirt, figure out stories from clues or learn about the past? These are all things archaeologists do—maybe you are one, too! The Natchez Trace Parkway invites children and their families to “Digging History,” a Junior Ranger program to be held at the Parkway Visitor Center at 10:00 am.  Join a park ranger for this 45 minute hands-on program to learn about the important role archaeology plays in telling the story of the Natchez Trace Parkway. This program is ideal for children seven to 12 years old but everyone is welcome. A

The North Mississippi Dulcimer Association will also play dulcimer music from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. The Appalachian mountain dulcimer is the first instrument developed in the United States dating back to the 1800s. Come listen to the soft sweet sounds of the dulcimer and learn about its extensive history.
