On October 17th, the annual Mississippi Coastal Cleanup was conducted in multiple sections of the park by numerous volunteers from local communities. Through multiple partnerships including Gulf Islands National Seashore and the Mississippi Marine Debris Task Force, tons of trash and marine debris are removed from the Mississippi coast, bayous, and barrier islands each year. Most importantly, the many habitats, environs, and wildlife greatly benefit from these tremendous and inspiring volunteer efforts. To the many and diverse array of volunteers who contribute so much to this annual effort, Gulf Islands National Seashore is always grateful, proud to be part of your community, and glad that you “Find Your Park” right here.
