:  Over 450 people brought their lawn chairs on a beautiful day in Boarding House park to enjoy the talents of competitors in the Banjo and Fiddle Contest. This 36 year tradition attracts young and old who showcase banjo and fiddle music in bluegrass, old timey, and ethnic traditional styles. After the originator of the contest retired from the park, staff struggled to keep the program going. This year, a core of dedicated volunteers took up the mantle, working with park and Festival Foundation staff to organize the event, raise funds, judge, and emcee.
