Campsites in Gold Bluffs Beach Campground in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park will now be available via reservations during the summer peak season. Historically, campsites at the campground were available only on a first-come/first-served basis year-round. Starting immediately, from May 22 through September 6, twenty-four campsites at Gold Bluffs Beach Campground may be reserved in advance on-line via Reserve America's website: www.reserveamerica.com or by calling 1-800-444-7275.The off season will remain a first-come/first-served system.
Following requests from park visitors, this transition to reservations will allow people who live farther from the park in other states or countries to enjoy the campground. Access to Gold Bluffs Beach Campground is via Davison Road, a six-mile, 15 mph, rough dirt road. There are no trailers of any kind allowed on Davison Road. Maximum single vehicle length is 24 feet and maximum width is 8 feet. Gold Bluffs Beach Campground is for tent and truck campers only.Dogs on leash are allowed in the campground and on the beach, but not on Redwood National and State Parks trails. In addition to the campground, Gold Bluffs Beach is the gateway to Fern Canyon and features eight miles of beautiful undeveloped coastline, scenic cliffs, fascinating history, whale watching, and opportunities to observe Roosevelt elk from a safe distance.
