Su Teatro from Denver, Colorado will be performing Dancing with the Spriits/Bailando con los Espiritus, a performance on the celebration of life and our ancestors, on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. free of charge at Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site. Su Teatro is nationally known for productions that share the history and experience of Chicanos since 1971 when the group began as a student-organized theater group at the University of Colorado.
Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site has partnered with the Tonantzin Society to celebrate Topeka's Día de los Muertos Festival. The festival highlights cultural traditions, contributes to the education of diversity, and promotes the Latino arts and culture.
For the celebration, the Western National Parks Association bookstore located at the site is stocked with many items and artwork purchased from the Free Trade Company and made by families from Oaxaca. Brightly colored art made with paper, metal, and wood specific to the Day of the Dead celebration will be available. Many of these items have been discounted in price.
