To commemorate Black History Month, Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site will present the documentary " Harlem Renaissance," tracing the roots of the music of the Harlem Renaissance and its social impact. Following the movie, Ben Anderson, PhD candidate at the College of William and Mary, will discuss the music of the time and how Jackson Ward became known as "Harlem of the South."
