Description
LITTLE FIRE ANTS (& OTHER INVASIVE SPECIES!)
“Uwē ka ho ͑ i ka naonao ia ͑ oe!”
So the ants will cry for you!
(You think you’re so important that even ants will cry for you!)

Little Fire Ants are a recent arrival on Hawaii Island and a threat to the environment, pets and people. The Big Island Invasive Species Committee (BIISC) has created a program to help people work in neighborhood teams to test for and treat them. Franny Brewer, BIISC Communications Director for four years, will talk about ongoing issues with LFA and other invasive species. She worked in conservation with the US Forest Service, and in education on Hawaii Island for 12 years before her work with BIISC. There will be some survey kits available to take home to test your yards for LFA.
