Description

Join the Civil War Defenses of Washington and the Tenleytown Historical Society at Fort Reno Park.

The guided-tour will explore the historic landscape on the grounds where the largest fortification north of the Potomac River once stood during the American Civil War. The program will also include a discussion about the post-war Reno City community, urban development, and the establishment of Fort Reno Park.

Place: Fort Reno Park (Tenleytown) – meet at bandstand, accessed from Chesapeake Street

Metro: Red Line to Tenleytown. Walk east on Albemarle Street to left on 40th (Wilson High School), cross Chesapeake and bandstand will be visible on Fort Reno grounds.
