Description
With the boost of the defense industry during World War II, thousands of men and women joined together in common patriotic duty. Some African American women who embraced the opportunity to serve on the home front instead experienced both racism and sexism in the workplace. How did these women confront the injustices they faced? In this talk, SCA Public History Intern Megan Woods will share the stories of Black women who worked at the Charlestown Navy Yard and brought awareness to discrimination at the Yard by calling for action and demanding change.
