Description
Wonders of the Night Sky Program (outdoor program)
The night sky is the largest natural resource at George Washington Carver National Monument. Come and learn with park rangers about celestial navigation, star stories, lunar phases, and the effects of light pollution.
Due to the current CDC guidelines and guidance from the White House the entire program will take place outside. This free, two-hour long program will begin on Saturday, November 14th at 6:00 p.m. We will be meeting at the flagpole and the program will take place in the gravel lot next to the visitor center.
This program will be cancelled if it is raining or cloudy. Please check the park Facebook page for any program changes. We ask that you dress for the weather, bring a chair, a flashlight, and binoculars if you would like. Young astronomers can earn a special Junior Ranger Night Explorer patch and certificate by learning more about the night sky. Ask a ranger for details when you arrive.
Limited space available and registration is required! Please call the park at 417-325-4151 by November 8th to register.
