Special Event
Allison Horrocks, Park Ranger at the Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park will take us back in time with a fascinating presentation of the "how" and "who" of voting in our mill villages.
This presentation is part of a series events hosted by the Douglas Historical Society, a 2025-2026 Host Site for the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum On Main Street’s exhibit Voices and Votes: Democracy in America. Since 1994, the Smithsonian has brought 13 different exhibits to over 1900 communities through Museum on Main Street, a part of the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service. Museum on Main Street is the means for the Smithsonian Institute to provide small-town America access to various museum exhibitions, research, educational resources and programming with ready-to-install exhibitions.
Completed in 2000, Voices and Votes: Democracy in America is based on the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History permanent exhibit, American Democracy: A Great Leap of Faith. Learn more here: Voices & Votes: Democracy in America – Simon Fairfield Public Library.
