Description

On Saturday, September 28, 2019, Stones River National Battlefield and our partners hope to bring more than one hundred citizens of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County together for a morning dedicated to properly managing the lands and waterways that are a critical part of life in Murfreesboro and Rutherford County.

We will join thousands of volunteers across the nation in celebrating the 26th year of National Public Lands Day by working to preserve and improve our public lands. We will remove invasive exotic plants, modern fencing and trash from the park's McFadden Farm unit located at 2600 Van Cleve Lane. In the process, we will improve the condition of the battlefield and the Stones River watershed.

The plans are in place, now we need you, the public to join us.

We will need groups of six or more volunteers to have one person per every 6-8 volunteers attend one of our Squad Boss training sessions and learn how to lead their fellow volunteers in the day's work.

Volunteers should bring work gloves and wear long sleeved shirts, work pants, and closed toe shoes. Volunteers should also bring a water bottle.

Lunch will be provided at noon by Walmart and the Friends of Stones River National Battlefield.
