Pea Ridge National Military Park Superintendent, Kevin Eads, announced today that the North portion of the park's horse trail has been reopened. The popular trails offer horseback riders a unique way to see the park and get some exercise.

"Additional work to improve the trails, addressing flooding issues, and to better mark them is planned for this summer but is not expected to impede horseback riders on the trail," Eads said.

Park staff asks that riders report any downed trees or excessively muddy areas to staff at the Visitor Center.

The Elkhorn Tavern and area north of the tavern, Telegraph road, remain off limits to horses due to resource damage.

Pea Ridge National Military Park preserves the site of and commemorates the March 1862 Civil War battle that helped Union forces gain control of Missouri. The park is located 10 miles north of Rogers on US Highway 62.Admission is $5.00 per person or $10.00 per vehicle.
