Organizational Charts This organization reflects Executive Order 6166 with the establishment of an Assistant Director, Buildings Management, for the Washington, DC functions absorbed. At this point in time, the National Park Service had those functions that in 1985 are clearly associated with the Public Buildings Service of the General Services Administration (GSA). The Branch of Landscape Architecture became the Branch of Plans and Design and had an Eastern and Western Division reflecting the increase of Eastern parks. National Capital Parks appears on this chart for the first time as a result of the Executive Order. The Lands Branch was again retitled as Recreational Land Planning. This was the unit that would oversee the Civilian Conservation Corps program. The beginnings of cooperative relationships with the States also is charted.
