How to Apply

Applications are accepted from January 1, 2018 through March 1, 2018 and will be evaluated based on artistic merit, the Statement of Purpose, and the appropriateness for the AiR residency. Selection and notification will be made by March 15, 2018. Residencies for those selected are scheduled for one of the following sessions:
  • April of May 2018
  • August or September 2018

Please submit a packet containing:

  • Completed and signed Application and Contract Form (Hard Copy)
  • Biography of art career (max 250 words) (Hard Copy)
  • Resume (2 pages max) (Hard Copy)
  • Statement of Purpose for residency (300 words). Please explain what you hope to accomplish during your residency at Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument, how the stay will contribute to your artistic development, what you will contribute to benefit the Monument and how your artwork will help connect visitors to the Monument. (Hard Copy)
  • Samples of your Artistic work. Do not send originals. Samples will not be returned.
    • Visual Artists (Painters, photographers, sculptures, etc.)
      • Provide 5 photos of your artwork that best represents your work.
      • Digital and hard copy accepted.
    • Performing Artists (drama, dance, music, composers, etc.)
      • Submit 2 productions/compositions of original work not to exceed 10 minutes in length.
    • Literary Artists (writers, poets, etc.)
      • Submit 2 samples of original work not more than 2 pages each.

Applications must be post-marked or delivered to the Monument by March 1, 2018 for consideration.
