As our facilities reopen, please remember to follow local area health orders, recreate responsibly, practice Leave No Trace principles, and work together to protect each other in the outdoors during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. We appreciate your patience and your support of the national parks.
The park does not require reservations, but if you would like, you can purchase an entrance pass online before visiting the park. Please note that if you are staying overnight in the park, you would need to purchase the 7-day vehicle pass as the 1-day vehicle pass expires at midnight.
Sea Turtle Public Hatchling Releases Suspended for 2020 Season
Padre Island National Seashore will not hold public sea turtle release events this summer. These public release events have become increasingly popular and regularly draw crowds between 700 and 1200 participants. This demonstrates both the success of, and the incredible public support for, the Kemps ridley sea turtles, the most endangered of all sea turtle species.
Due to the overwhelming popularity of these public events, it is not possible to host them this summer while adhering to social distancing and crowd avoidance guidelines. When conditions and guidance allow, the park will resume these popular turtle release events, as well as, traditional ranger guided activities. This summer the park will film hatchling releases and post them on the Division of Sea Turtle Science and Recovery's Facebook page.
