Proposed Fee Increases at Padre Island National Seashore

(Corpus Christi, Texas) Acting Superintendent Betty Frantum has announced that Padre Island National Seashore proposes to change existing entrance and user fees beginning January 2008. The proposed changes to the existing entrance and user fees are as follows:

Entrance – per vehicle        $10.00                            $15.00

Entrance – per person        $ 5.00                             $ 7.00

Entrance – motorcycle       $ 5.00                             $10.00

Entrance – annual             $20.00                            $30.00    

Bird Island Basin

User Fee                          $ 5.00 per day                  $10.00 per day

                                     $10.00 annual              $20.00 annual

Malaquite Beach

Campground                     $8.00 per day                   $10.00 per day

 

 

The Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act of 2004 (REA) requires that the public have an opportunity to participate in the development of or change to a recreational fee. Those wishing to comment on the proposed changes can do so by using the National Park Service Planning, Environment and Public Comment website at https://parkplanning.nps.gov to submit their comments electronically or comments can be mailed to Padre Island National Seashore, Attn: Superintendent/Fee Change, P. O. Box 181300, Corpus Christi, Texas 78480-1300 or hand-delivered to Park Headquarters, 20301 Park Road 22, Corpus Christi, Texas 78418 The deadline for commenting on the proposed changes is April 26, 2007.
