Superintendent Range Welcomes Visitors

Visitor safety at Organ Pipe Cactus NM has been changed from keeping areas closed to keep the visitor safe, to educating the visitor on hazards or potentially dangerous situations. The visitor will be able to make their own decision based on experience and comfort level."This is public land and with the changes that have taken place, the management feels that educating visitors will provide visitors with the tools needed to help them experience the park." explains Superintendent Range. "Once people see this great resource they will want to keep coming back."

A renewed energy and enthusiasm is spreading through the staff to see visitors return to the parts of the park they have not seen in so many years. There is hope that new visitors will come to explore the magnificent wilderness and take advantage of the scenic drives, hiking trails and camping.

As with any changes there has been preparation but some things will take time to get changed and catch up.One of those things is the website. We ask for your patience as we make the changes to pages, removing the references to closed areas. You can help us.As you explore this website or read any of our literature, contact us if we have missed something. We actually are asking for your help in catching what we miss and letting us know through the "contact us" portal on the website.
