The Benjamin Chinn House, ca. 1890. The house was used as a field hospital after both battles. The Chinn house was torn down around 1950.
Introduction

On July 21, 1861, Northern and Southern troops met in Virginia on the fields overlooking Bull Run in what became the first major battle of the Civil War. Then in August 1862, Union and Confederate armies clashed for a second time on the plains of Manassas in a much bloodier battle.
