National Mall and Memorial Parks
Officially established in 1965, the National Mall and Memorial Parks protects more than 1,000 acres of parkland containing many of the United States' most significant cultural resources. These sites consist of some of the most recognized symbols of our nation which are depicted on everything from U.S. currency to the nightly news. Millions of visitors, including families, school groups, veterans groups and international guests travel to the National Mall and Memorial Parks each year to see these iconic symbols of our national heritage.
