Park Planning

The Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service, together with interested partners, are conducting a public planning process to develop a Comprehensive Administrative Strategy and Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Old Spanish National Historic Trail.

This document will provide guidance for resource protection and visitor use along the trail. The planning process is expected to last several years.

You may obtain planning process updates at a website dedicated to the project.

A report with details of the 120-day scoping period (January-May 2006) is now available. A short summary is available in a newsletter.

The Old Spanish Trail Feasibility Study/Environmental Assessment, completed in July 2001, preceded the designation of the Old Spanish National Historic Trail in 2002. This document is available for viewing.
