Teaching with Historic Places (TwHP) uses properties listed in the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places to enliven history, social studies, geography, civics, and other subjects. TwHP has created a variety of products and activities that help teachers bring historic places into the classroom.

The Teaching with Historic Places (TwHP) staff has conducted workshops, given presentations, and exhibited materials on how places can teach American history to people of all ages. These professional development opportunities for educators, historians, and preservationists have included professional conferences, teacher in-service and other training, symposia, summer institutes, and other activities. Participating has allowed us to explain our program and demonstrate techniques in person to a broad and diverse audience.

Much of the information we have presented at these events is now available on the Teaching Teachers the Power of Place section of the TwHP website.
