El Molino Viejo, the "old mill," was constructed in 1816 to serve Mission San Gabriel, located about two miles to the south. The mill was powered by a waterwheel constructed by mission Indians supervised by Father Zalvidea. The mill building was constructed of heavy masonry walls with a tile roof. The grist mill was powered by water brought to the mill from Kewen and Los Robles Canyons.

El Molino Viejo is located at 1120 Old Mill Rd. in San Marino. It is open Tuesday-Sunday 1:00pm to 4:00pm, except major holidays. Call 626-449-5458 or visit the mill's website for further information.
