Alt Text Map of Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument in Nevada. Surrounded by desert mountains in tan, the park is shown in darker peanut-brown, and it stretches northwest from Las Vegas in the bottom right almost into the top left corner of the map. Extended Description In the bottom right quadrant of the map, Las Vegas and North Las Vegas are shown as a single gray block with a grid of roads. From top to bottom, labeled east-west roads in Las Vegas include Horse Drive, Grand Teton Drive, and Elkhorn Road. From left to right, north-south roads include Durango Drive, Buffalo Drive, Jones Boulevard, Decatur Boulevard, and Aliante Parkway. The park begins just north of Las Vegas and extends northwest on the eastern side of Route 95. The South Unit of the park begins just north of Grand Teton Drive, and the rest of the park comprises the much larger North Unit. The entrance to the South Unit sits near the intersection of Aliante Parkway and Horse Drive. Parking and an information kiosk are available at the park entrance. Another information kiosk lies a block east, along a section of the South Unit and Las Vegas border marked as “Road closed, No vehicle access.” The Egglington Preserve lies along the easternmost edge of the South Unit. The Ice Age Fossils State Park is a pale blue rectangle just northwest of the South Unit park entrance. The Big Dig Archaeological Site is labeled to the east and the Ice Age Fossils State Park Visitor Center, which has restrooms and parking, is to the west of this state park. Shown in pale yellow, Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs (City of Las Vegas) is tucked between the western arm of the South Unit and Las Vegas. The Park Entrance for the North Unit, which has an information kiosk and parking, sits at the end of Durango Drive. The top edge of the North Unit climbs in three big steps. The bottom edge has much smaller steps like serrations until the topmost third, where the park is bordered to the south by US Route 95. Corn Creek Road extends off of US Route 95 to cross the park, passing an information kiosk near the intersection. Corn Creek Road then continues beyond the east border of the park to reach the Desert National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, which has restrooms, passport stamps, and an information kiosk. Red text near the top edge of the North Unit reads “Driving off-road and target shooting is prohibited within the park boundary.” Desert National Wildlife Refuge fills the top, right half of the map north of Las Vegas and the national monument. The Las Vegas Paiute Snow Mountain Reservation is shown as a white rectangle tucked under the North Unit. US Route 95 runs diagonally across the reservation. Legend A legend near the bottom right corner of the map lists symbols for Restrooms, Passport stamps, Information kiosk, and Parking. A scale below the symbols measures distances of 1 and 2 kilometers and 1 and 2 miles.
