Park Entrance, Visitor Center, and Picnic Areas The Park Entrance is on Joplin Road just west of Interstate 95. Most of the noted features are along the main park road, which is shown as a red line and runs north from the Park Entrance to make a loop around the center of the park. A branch of the road forks east to the Visitor Center, which has a ranger station, restrooms, drinking water, and wheelchair access. To the west of the Visitor Center is a parking area for Pine Grove, which also has a picnic area and restrooms. The road first passes a gated, unpaved road just before mile marker 1 labeled Cabin Camp 3 (Orenda permit required), then a gated road that runs west to Park Headquarters, and next a small parking area that serves Carters Day Camp Pond. Continuing north, the road crosses South Fork Quantico Creek. North of the creek are parking areas A, B, and C. Parking Area C serves South Valley Trail. Continuing north, the road forks left at mile marker 2 to create the Scenic Drive, which loops around the center of the park. Red semicircles on Scenic Drive mark parking areas. Black dashed lines indicate hiking trails, double-dashed lines unpaved roads, and black brackets gates. Sites along the road are noted counterclockwise as follows: Parking Area D is situated near the entrances to North Orenda Road (unpaved, gated) and Pyrite Mine Road (unpaved, gated). North Orenda Road runs south, leading all the way back to Pine Grove via South Orenda Road. Back at the Scenic Drive's one o'clock, Taylor Farm Road heads south into the loop, where it intersects High Meadows Trail at the approximate center of the park. At twelve o'clock, Area F serves Old Black Top Road, which is gated and unpaved. Old Black Top Road runs south into the circle, cutting across Taylor Farm Road to reach a gate at the western end of Mary Byrd Branch Trail. Just past this parking area is mile marker 5. At eleven o’clock, Scenic Drive connects with an unlabeled road just before mile marker 6. This road runs northwest, leading to Oak Ridge Campground, which has wheelchair access, showers, drinking water, restrooms, and a campground but no RV hook-ups. Continuing past mile marker 8 and Liming Lane (unpaved, gated), Parking Area I serves as a trailhead for a small trail leading to cascades on South Fork Quantico Creek. At mile marker 9, an unlabeled road runs north to Turkey Run Ridge Area, which has restrooms and drinking water; and Turkey Run Ridge Group Campground (permit required). The campground additionally shows symbols for restrooms and an amphitheater. A note here reads, “See detail map below.” Trails at Turkey Run include Turkey Run Ridge Trail and Little Run Loop Trail.
