Alt Text Map of James A. Garfield National Historic Site in Ohio. The site sits in the city of Mentor, above Cleveland and near Lake Erie, which cuts diagonally across the map as a blue triangle. The land is shaped like a parallelogram. Park areas are beige around Cleveland and Mentor, and surrounding land is gray. Extended Description Cleveland is on the lower left and Mentor is on the upper right. This description will establish the highways and roads, denoted by red lines, from southwest to northeast, noting the three park sites along the way. Interstate 90 runs up the coast along Lake Erie. About a third of the way across the map, State Route 615 stems from I-90, running up the coast to Mentor. About halfway up the coast, Interstate 90 branches off, cutting below Mentor, while State Route 2 continues up the coast just above Mentor. Interstate 77 runs north-south through Cleveland from I-90. As I-77 approaches I-90, it connects to US Highway 20, which continues up the map roughly parallel with I-90 and State Route 2, through Mentor. Shortly after branching from I-77, US Highway 20 also meets with US Highway 322, which continues east across the map. Lake View Cemetery, Garfield’s burial site and monument, sits in the acute angle formed by US Highways 20 and 322. Interstate 271 runs north-south, cutting through the map’s approximate middle, and intersecting with I-90 after 90 branches off from US Highway 20. US Highway 422 runs east-west near the bottom of the map. After passing Interstate 271, it intersects State Route 91, which runs north, crossing US Highway 322 and then US Highway 6. Between 322 and 422 is Moreland Hills, Garfield’s birthplace site. Continuing east, 422 crosses State Route 306, which runs north up to State Route 615. Just beyond this intersection, State Route 615 hooks down below State Route 2 and intersects with US Highway 20 at Mentor, where the James A. Garfield National Historic Site sits. Legend A scale at the top left shows distances of 5 miles and 5 kilometers.
