Alt Text Map of Fort Pulaski National Monument in Georgia. The Savannah River and its connecting waterways are indicated in blue and the landforms of Cockspur Island, Tybee Island, and McQueens Island in off-white mostly patterned with pale blue diamonds, representing wetlands. Extended Description Cockspur Island is bordered by the Savannah River to the north, and the South Channel separates it from McQueens Island to the southwest and Tybee Island to the southeast. Fort Pulaski is surrounded by a Historic Dike boundary outlined in brown, which takes up about one-third of the island. A Visitor Center has parking at the heart of the historic boundary just west of the fort. The Historic North Pier extends up from the top edge of the boundary, and Battery Hambright and John Wesley Memorial are south of the boundary nearby. The crescent-shaped Daymark Island is just north of the pier off the coastline. A walking trail along the Feeder canal connects the southern shoreline of the island with the fort and visitor center and then continues to the memorial, battery, and a picnic area to the west. The Lighthouse Overlook Trail begins outside the historic boundary off the northeast edge and travels south almost to the coastline. The Cockspur Island Lighthouse is just offshore there. Park roads run west from the parking lot and visitor center to and past the picnic area. Another branch travels south to cross the South Channel and arrives at the Entrance Station on McQueens Island. The Hiker Biker Trail extends west from the park road, which ends where it meets Interstate 80. The interstate parallels the shoreline of McQueens and Tybee islands. It leads “To Savannah” off the left edge of the map. Traveling to the right the interstate passes a boat ramp on Lazaretto Creek and a fishing pier before continuing east. Near the lower right corner of the map on Tybee Island, Battery Drive leads to Battery Park Exhibits and parking. The road continues as Catalina Drive as it heads south after Interstate 80. Legend A scale near the top right corner of the map measures distances of 0.1 and 0.2 kilometers and 0.1 and 0.2 miles.
