Alt Text Map of Herbert Hoover National Historic Site in Iowa. All shown in perspective, some buildings are brown and others gray. Some gray streets and pathways are lined or filled in with yellow, and the Hoover Creek winds across the middle of tan map. Extended Description In the top right quadrant, Main Street runs east-west across the top right half of the map and cross streets are Poplar Street, Downey Street, and Parkside Drive. Penn Street connects the southern ends of Poplar and Downey streets. Main Street and Parkside Drive are lined in yellow and the other three are entirely yellow. Parkside Drive continues off the bottom edge of the map where a note reads, “To Interstate 80, Iowa city, and Davenport.” The Visitor Center is shown as a brown building at the corner of Main Street and Parkside Drive. Parking is available next to the visitor center and across Parkside Drive. Three brown buildings are along Penn Street: the Schoolhouse, Blacksmith Shop, and Birthplace Cottage, the last of which is labeled in all caps. The wide, yellow walkway travels south past the cottage, crosses the creek, and continues as the narrower Downey Street (road trace), which is also yellow. Friends Meetinghouse, shown in brown, lies to the right of this transition and a Statue of Isis to the left. The House of the Maples (site) is farther south on Downey Street. A gray street branches east off of Parkside Drive to pass the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum, which has parking, and continues to a loop near the left edge of the map, where more parking is available along the top and bottom edges. A gray street on the far side of the parking lot from the museum leads east to Hoover Presidential Foundation. A yellow walkway curves off of Downey Street just above the Statue of Isis and travels west then south. It continues alongside the museum and then beyond to pass Tallgrass Prairie and end at the Gravesite of President and Mrs. Hoover, which is also labeled in all caps. Prairie Trails branches south off the walkway south of the museum. The distance is given as 2.2 miles (3.5 kilometers) and a note below reads, “Trail to Isaac Miles Farmstead, 0.2 miles (0.3 kilometers).” South of the gravesite, the walkway makes a loop and leads to the Tallgrass Prairie Observation Deck. Back to the cluster of buildings in the top right corner, another walkway travels west from the end of Penn Street. Spurs off the walkway lead to the East Picnic Shelter and West (Boy Scout) Picnic Shelter, both shown in gray. Restrooms are available near the west picnic shelter. The walkway then connects with the gray parking loop. Legend A scale in the lower left corner of the map measures distances of 100 meters and 100 feet. The legend below reads as follows: Yellow line for Walkway and Yellow dashed line for Tallgrass Prairie Trail. Two symbols represent Parking and Restrooms.
