Alt Text Map of Pea Ridge National Military Park in Arkansas. The park is shaded and outlined in green in the upper half of the map with the surrounding areas in a lighter green. Roads are represented by white lines, trails by dashed lines, and a tour route by a blue line. Extended Description The park is bordered to the south by US Highway 62. State Highway 72 cuts through part of the park on the western border and runs up the edge in other parts, and North Old Wire Road to the east winds just inside that border. Another, much smaller section of the park is below US Route 62 in the lower left corner of the map. There are eleven tour stops labeled in the park. They follow Telegraph Road and Ford Road in a loop through the park. There are several hiking trails, horse trails, and joint use trails within the park that follow along the tour, with some weaving into the right side of the park not included on the tour. The Visitor Center is in the park just off US Highway 62. The Visitor Center has parking and restrooms, and a picnic area and horse trailhead parking are nearby. Tour stop 1 is the Trail of Tears just to the left of the Visitor Center. Tour Stop 2, General Curtis’s Headquarters Site, is immediately west. The tour continues clockwise past Winton Spring to tour stop 3, Leetown, next to an area labeled Leetown site. Moving up, tour stop 4, Leetown Battlefield in Oberson’s Fields, is at seven o’clock. Tour stop 5 is just past nine o’clock at a site labeled Armies Collide near Round Mountain and Morgan’s Woods. Tour stop 6 is the West Overlook in Elkhorn Mountain. Now up and past noon, the tour begins to loop back to the Visitor Center. Tour stop 7 is the East Overlook next to Cox’s Field at the end of a hiking trail. Tour stop 8 is the Elkhorn Tavern, which sits slightly off the tour route along Huntsville Road. Just beyond it is a site with parking, restrooms, and a storm shelter. Tour stop 9 at three o’clock is the Confederate Sunset. It sits between Ruddick’s Field and Cox’s Field. The final tour stop, 10, is labeled Federal Line before the blue line returns to the Visitor Center. Tour stop 11 is in the Federal trenches near the bottom left corner of the map and is labeled Little Sugar Creek Trenches. Landmarks not on the tour include the Tanyard Site, the Williams Hollow Hospital Site, and the Clemens House Site. They are all in the right side of the park just beyond tour stop 8. Legend A scale in the lower right corner of the map measures distances of 0.5 and 1 kilometer and 0.5 and 1 mile.
