Extended Description The Chaco Culture National Historical Park sits in the northwest corner of New Mexico off of State Route 57. The town of Nageezi is to the north, Pueblo Pintado to the east, and Crownpoint to the south. Seven prehistoric roads lead from the park like spokes of a wheel, as indicated by gold solid lines. Red dots representing more than 60 Great Houses are scattered across the map but are most concentrated up the middle third. Two of the Great Houses are located in Arizona to the east and four are located in Colorado to the north. The rest are within New Mexico. North of the park and just south of the New Mexico-Colorado border are the Salmon Ruin along the San Juan River and Aztec Ruins National Monument along the Animas River in Aztec. US Routes 491, 550, State Route 371, County Roads 7900 and 7950 and ARROWHEAD 9 and 46 run vertically up the map. US Routes 160 and 64 and State Route 197 run across the map.
