Alt Text Map of César E. Chávez National Monument in California. The terrain is tan and the boundary of the monument is shaded in pale green. Extended Description The monument is mostly square but with a semicircular bulge off the northeast corner and an arm extending diagonally off the southeast corner. The Martyrs Rock, Peace Pole, Villa La Paz, and parking are in the bulge at the top right. The United Farm Workers/Cesar Chavez Foundation Headquarters and parking are about halfway down the right edge of the park. The last cluster of sites is in the arm to the southeast, and it includes the National Monument Visitor Center, which has information and restrooms, the César E. Chávez Memorial Garden, Gravesite, Desert Garden, parking, and picnic areas. The park entrance is farther down this arm, and a white road travels up the eastern edge of the park to end at Villa La Paz. A network of trails and walking roads stretch across the expanse to the west of the sites. Outside the park, the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway follows the edge of the memorial along the top and east sides. A note there reads, “Danger–the BNSF is an active railway. Stay off the tracks.” US Route 58 stretches roughly parallel to the west and south sides of the park. The northern end continues “To Bakersfield, 30 miles (48 kilometers).” Other roads near Keene branch off US Route 58 at Keene Exit 139 to pass the Keene Cafe and Keene Post Office on Woodford - Tehachapi Road, which also leads to the park entrance. Woodford - Tehachapi Road leads south “To Tehachapi Loop overlook, 3 miles (4.8 km)” and Route 58 leads south “To Tehachapi, 10 miles (16 kilometers).” Legend A legend in the lower left corner of the map reads as follows: Green dashed line for Trails/Senderos, Tan line for Walking roads/Vía peatonal, and White line for Driving roads/Vía vehicular.
