Alt Text Map of Adams National Historical Park in Quincy, Massachusetts. Three green callout boxes line an orange path representing the Recommended driving route to the National Park Service Visitor Center. Park areas are shown in green, the surrounding areas in eggshell white, and the main roads in black. Extended Description The recommended driving route, Burgin Parkway, angles northeast into the map from near the lower left corner before stretching north about three quarters of the way up the map. A note near the southern end reads “To State Route 3 and Interstate 93.” The MBTA Red Line joins Burgin Parkway as the latter straightens to travel north. Independence Avenue, which leads “To State Route 3 and Braintree” off the bottom of the map, ripples roughly parallel to Burgin Parkway to the east. Franklin Street angles northwest from the bottom right corner of the map to pass Abigail Adams Cairn. Independence Avenue ends at President’s Avenue where both intersect with Franklin Street, which continues north. A green area identified in one of the callout boxes as Birthplaces of John and John Quincy Adams nestle in the V created by Presidents Avenue and Franklin Street. Continuing north, Burgin Parkway passes Water Street, School Street, and Granite Street. The MBTA and Burgin Parkway gently curve northwest to pass Hancock Cemetery and the Quincy Center Station, identified with a white letter T in a red circle. The recommended driving route turns right on Dimmock Street just past the Quincy Center Station and then right again on Hancock Street to make a square U turn. The orange route passes the second callout box, the Visitor Center Trolley Bus Tour (inside the Galleria at President’s Place) before continuing on Savill Avenue and ending near a parking garage. Past where it intersects with Saville Avenue, Hancock Street continues southeast by the United First Parish Church and then intersects School Street farther down. Just beyond Saville Avenue, Washington Street branches off of Hancock Street to pass the Thomas Crane Public Library. School Street becomes Elm Street after it passes Hancock Street, and Elm Street ends at Washington Street. North of the visitor center, Hancock Street passes the Quincy Homestead (Dorothy Quincy Hancock House), near the upper left corner of the map. Also north of the recommended driving route, Burgin Parkway continues as a black line past Adams Academy to and beyond Adams Street. The area above of Adams Street is green, and the final callout box there identifies a black dot as Old House at Peace Field. State Route 3A crosses the upper right corner of the map. Legend A scale to the left in the map measures distances of 0.1 and 0.3 kilometers and 0.1 and 0.3 miles. The orange line is identified as the Recommended driving route to the NPS Visitor Center.
