Alt Text Map of Waco Mammoth National Monument in Texas. The park, shown in green, stretches between Steinbeck Bend Drive in the north and the Bosque River in the south. A Welcome Center, Dig Shelter, and trails are clustered in the northeast. Extended Description The northern half of the park is square and the southern half is triangular, like an upside-down house with a steep, pitched roof. Steinbeck Bend Drive clips one corner of the square as it runs at a shallow, southeast angle from the upper left corner of the map. A road branches into the park from Steinbeck Bend Drive to lead to the Welcome Center, two parking lots, and the Dig Shelter. Represented with a solid yellow line, the Mammoth Trail begins at the Dig Shelter, connects to the amphitheater, and curls back up to one of the parking lots. A short spur halfway between the amphitheater and parking lot has a picnic area. Dashed green lines stretching further west into the park represent Eagle Trail and Deer Loop. The Bosque River curves like a sideways S across the bottom of the map. Legend A scale tucked into a river bend near the bottom right corner of the map gives distances for 0, 50, and 100 meters and 0, 200, and 400 feet. The legend reads as follows: * Solid yellow line for the wheelchair-accessible walkway, * Dashed green lines for trails, * Symbols for picnic areas, restrooms, and parking.
