Alt Text 3D map of Liberty Island in New York, a part of Statue of Liberty National Monument. The oval-shaped island is colored light green. The Statue of Liberty sits on the right side of the island while a cluster of small buildings sits on the left side of the island by the Ferry Dock. The surrounding water is shown as blue. Extended Description Liberty Island tapers to a rounded point on the left side. The Statue of Liberty is on the right side of the island. She faces outward into the harbor and sits atop Fort Wood, a large flat building that resembles an 11-pointed star. A long, wide, paved walkway leads from the base of Fort Wood through the middle of the park with two smaller paths going left and right to either side of the Statue of Liberty. The farther path leads to the Pedestal and Crown Entrance for the monument, which includes security screening, and lockers can be found on the opposite side of the path. Continuing to the right of the Pedestal and Crown Entrance, a long dock runs parallel to an arrow pointing in the direction of Manhattan. To the left of the dock the September 11 Memorial Grove along the edge of the island is designated by a darker shade of green. Back at the base of the statue, the closer path leads to the Sculpture Garden, also shown in a darker green. A wide walkway starts at the base of the Statue of Liberty and leads to Flagpole Plaza near the other end of the island. The plaza is a large round paved area around a single flagpole, with a U.S. flag waving at the top. Beyond Flagpole Plaza is the Statue of Liberty Museum, which has information, restrooms, and a baby changing station. The Information Center, which has information and first aid, is next to the museum. Both buildings are to the left of where the Ferry Dock juts out from the bottom-left side of the island. To the right of a walkway extending from the Ferry Dock are three buildings clustered around the Cafe Plaza. These include the Audio Tour Pavilion, which has audio description and sign language interpretation; the Cafe and Bookstore building, which has food service, a bookstore, and a breastfeeding station; and the Gift Shop, with restrooms, a baby changing station, and an ATM. Legend A scale located in the water directly below the Statue of Liberty measures distances of 30 meters and 100 feet. A compass left of the scale shows North pointing toward the upper left corner of the map. To the left of the north arrow are two columns of symbols representing Information, Food service, Bookstore, Gift shop, Restrooms, Baby changing station, Breastfeeding station, Sign language interpretation, Audio tour, Audio description, Museum, ATM, and First aid, as well as one indicating that all buildings on the island are wheelchair accessible.
