Alt Text Map of Hampton National Historic Site in Maryland. Two, connected, funnel-shaped park areas are shown in pale green. Surrounding areas are shown in tan and the roads in dark pink. Extended Description Hampton Lane runs at a shallow diagonal vertically down the map almost halfway across from the left edge. A triangular area to the left of the road, in the upper corner of the map, has seven sites and buildings labeled. The much larger section of the park nearly fills the right two-thirds of the map to the right of Hampton Lane with more sites and features. Moving clockwise around the smaller section to the left of Hampton Lane are the Long House Granary at about one o’clock, Dairy at two o’clock, site of the Corn Crib just past six, Mule Barn at seven, Dove Cote at nine, and the three structures of the Workers’ Quarters and the Lower House at ten o’clock. The Park Entrance is in the larger segment of the park near the bottom edge of the map. An arrow pointing down indicates that Hampton Lane continues “To Interstate 695.” A park road leads to a circular drive with two parking areas in the lower right quadrant of the map. Greenhouses are nestled between the two parking areas, near the right edge of the map. Slightly farther up Hampton Lane the Historic Entrance Gates are marked. A paler pink road, labeled Historic Road in parentheses, also leads to the parking loop. Another road or path branches off the parking area to create a second loop in front of Hampton Mansion. An Orangery is between the parking areas and mansion, and the Great Terrace and Parterres stretch behind the house. The site of historic Orchards is above this, and six tiny structures are labeled between the mansion and the park boundary near the top of the map. The Ice House is across the park road from the Orangery and the rest of the buildings are clustered between noon and one o’clock in relation to the mansion. These are two Privies, a Smokehouse, Woodshed, Garage, and Pumphouse. Two stables are marked across the lawn, near Hampton Lane. A park road running from Hampton Lane across the top boundary of the map leads “To Cemetery” to the right. Windy Gate Road branches off and runs perpendicular to Hampton Lane and leads to Saint Francis Road in the lower left corner of the map. Legend A scale in the upper right corner of the map measures distances of 100 meters and 100 feet. A compass shows north pointing to the left.
