Alt Text Park map of the Aztec Ruins National Monument in New Mexico. Park sites are clustered mostly in the lower left corner of the map with organic shapes outlined in gray in the upper right corner. Extended Description A road reaching up into the map in the lower left corner would lead south “To Aztec and State Route 516” farther down from what is shown. The road leads to a parking area next to a Visitor Center, Museum, Patio, and Picnic Ground, which are spaced around a roughly rectangular dark brown area. A gray dashed line representing the Old Spanish National Historic Trail passes a Heritage Garden, shown as a green rectangle just south of the parking lot, and the trail ends at the parking area. Two self-guided trails lead from the patio to and around the Aztec West site just north of the visitor center. Within the site are a plaza, Great Kiva, and a smaller kiva. Two more small kivas are tucked among dozens of mostly rectangular rooms in a dense, honeycomb-like arrangement. A path travels north from the western corner of the structure to reach the round Hubbard Tri-Wall Site, where text reads “Backfilled for better preservation.” Northeast of the Aztec West ruins is the round Mound F, which would be nearly large enough to encircle the visitor center. Traveling east are the Aztec East ruins, which are two mounds much larger than Mound F, and a Great Kiva. North of Aztec East are Mound A, smaller than Mound F, and the Earl Morris Site. A note here reads “This area closed to public.” Legend A scale in the upper right corner of the map measures distances of 50 meters and 100 feet. A legend near the picnic ground shows a white line against dark brown as a Self-guiding trail and dark brown as Park area open to public (all other park areas closed).
