Alt Text Map of Piscataway Park on the Potomac River in Maryland. Park areas are shown in green, the surrounding areas in eggshell white, the water in blue, and roads in gray. Extended Description The Potomac River cuts vertically down from the top edge of the map between Virginia to the west and Maryland to the east. The Piscataway Creek extends off the river where it turns west around the southern tip of Virginia to create a T-shaped section. Piscataway Park lines the top of this T shape. This description will begin with Piscataway Park before moving to parks and other features in Maryland and then Virginia, before ending with a full transcription of the legend. Piscataway Park Sites from west to east in the park include Marshall Hall Landing and Marshall Hall Ruins in Marshall Hall Park, which has a boat ramp, and a Visitor Center at National Colonial Farm, which has a canoe/kayak launch near a Fishing Pier and Ecosystem Farm. The Marsh Boardwalk leads east to Mockley Point, which has a canoe/kayak launch. Farther east and along the Piscataway Creek, reservations are required for Hard Bargain Farm, and Farmington Landing has a canoe/kayak launch. Bryan Point Road runs from near the visitor center south and east to meet Farmington Road, which cuts across the southeast corner of the park, and then almost to State Route 210, Indian Head Highway, outside the park farther southeast. Bryan Point Road connects with Indian Head Highway via the short Biddle Road. State Route 227, Marshall Hall Road, crosses State Route 210 and continues north to Marshall Hall Landing. Most of the area within the park boundary is a lighter sage green than areas lining the river and creek, indicating private land within park boundaries. Surrounding Areas in Maryland Fort Washington Park is along the northern bank of the Piscataway Creek, and Swan Creek curves along the top edge of Fort Washington Park. From west to east in this park is a Visitor Center, Fort Washington, the Fort Washington Marina with a Marina (seasonal boat rentals, boat ramp) and Food service, and the Piscataway Creek Trail. Indian Head Highway continues north, parallel to the Potomac River. Harmony Hall is on the river inside the highway, on Broad Creek north of Fort Washington Park. Continuing north are Fort Foote Park and National Harbor. Oxen Cove Park is at the top edge of the map near the Maryland-Washington, DC line. Marshall Hall Road, Bryan Point Road, Farmington Road, and other roads up along the Maryland coastline are yellow, indicating on-road bicycle routes. Interstate 495 and 95, the Capital Beltway, connect Maryland to Virginia via the Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge. Virginia The Woodrow Wilson Bridge meets Virginia at Jones Point Park to the east of Alexandria. Along the east bank of Virginia and lining the Potomac River from north to south are the Belle Haven Marina, Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve, and Fort Hunt Park along the George Washington Memorial Parkway. The parkway curves west along the southern Virginia coast to reach Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens. The Mount Vernon Trail connects the bridge to Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens. Legend A scale measures distances of 1 kilometer and 1 mile. Symbols for Food service, Marina (seasonal boat rentals, boat ramp), Boat ramp, and Canoe/kayak launch follow. The legend continues with: Dark green line separating white from green as Authorized park boundary, Green area as National Park Service lands, Sage green as Private land within authorized park boundary, Frost green as Other parklands, Gray dashed line for Hiking trail, Green dashed line for Off-road bicycle trail, and Yellow line for On-road bicycle route.
