Alt Text Map of Guilford Courthouse National Military Park in North Carolina. The park is shaded green with the neighboring Greensboro Country Park shown in lighter green and Forest Lawn Cemetery in tan. A self-guiding tour route represented in red passes eight numbered sites, and three blue dashed lines indicate lines of battle. Extended Description Three roads form a rough triangle around the western end of the park. Battleground Avenue, also labeled US Route 220, runs diagonally from the left edge of the map down and to the right, where text reads “To Greensboro.” New Garden Road crosses Battleground Avenue to arrive at the park’s visitor center, and Old Battleground Road travels north-south through the park and past New Garden Road. A triangular area tucked in the intersection of New Garden Road and Battleground Avenue has a parking lot and the footprint of three buildings labeled Hoskins Farmstead site. Red text here reads “Cornwallis formed his troops into a line of battle here, a quarter mile west of the American First Line.” New Garden Road continues to the Visitor Center, where the one-way, self-guiding tour road begins at the parking lot there and moves around the park in a counterclockwise direction from here. Stop #1 is labeled American First Line, and it is across a foot trail from the Turner Monument. The path continues south past Forbis Monument on the first dashed blue line, which is also labeled American First Line. Number 2 is labeled Fragmented Attack. The tour road continues east to cross Old Battleground Road and arrive at number 3, Sustained Firefight, which is on the blue dashed American Second Line. Number 4, Expanding Battle, is to the east near the Winston Monument before the tour road turns north to number 5, Battlefield Preservation. Again headed east, the road passes number 6, labeled Guilford Courthouse and the Third Line, before curving west in a hairpin turn. It crosses the American Third Line before reaching number 7, The British Soldier. A network of footpaths in this area lead to Regulars’, Stuart, Calvary, Maryland, Delaware, and Caldwell monuments. The tour path crosses the American Second Line again near number eight, which is close to the Schenk Monument. A red arrow points in the direction of number 1, though the road in this section is shown in gray. Just south of number 8 are the Green Monument, which is labeled in red text, and Signers’ Monument. A footpath cutting across the center of the park is highlighted in white and labeled Historic New Garden Road. The wedge-shaped Forest Lawn Cemetery is tucked along the southern border of Guilford Courthouse National Military Park and Greensboro Country Park fills in the bottom right quadrant of the map. A fourth blue dashed line is labeled “Last shots of separate action” to the south. Lawndale Drive runs along the eastern border of both parks, and the Greensboro Science Center near the road in Greensboro Country Park. Jaycee Park is along the bottom edge of the map, and a road there is labeled “To Pisgah Church Road.” Legend A scale in the lower left corner of the map measures distances of 50 and 100 meters and 250 and 500 feet. Bold text here reads, “Relic collecting or the possession of metal detectors within the park is prohibited.” The legend reads as follows: Red line for One-way, self-guiding auto/bicycle tour road starts at visitor center parking, Red circle with a white number for Tour stop, Green dashed line for Off-road paved bicycle/foot trail, Black dotted line for Foot trail, and White line for Historic road.
